PURPOSE:To form a uniform coated film having excellent corrosion resistance and less color difference by making combination use of anion type electrodeposition painting and cation type electrodeposition painting on the surface of a material to be coated. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the material 1 to be coated such as switchboard or control panel is cleaned by degreasing and rinsing; thereafter, a chemical conversion film 2 by a zinc phosphate treatment, etc., is formed thereon. The surface is again subjected to rinsing, draining and drying and thereafter, with the material to be coated as a cathode, the epoxy resin cation type electrodeposition coated film 3 is electrodeposited thereon to 15-20mum thickness by using the anode of a counter electrode. The surface of the cation type electrodeposition coated film 3 is rinsed and the coated film 4 of the polybutadiene resin anion type electrodeposition paint is electrodeposited to 10-15mum thickness on the material to be coated as the anode by the cathode of the counter electrode. The coating is heated and dried for 20min at 165-180 deg.C after rinsing.
