Marionette which can be used, in particular, by a ventriloquist and which comprises various systems giving it numerous gestures, expressions and positions, the marionette being designed in a flexible ultra-light-weight material enabling it to be held without fatigue in one hand. The neck and the head form a sheath into which the operator inserts his arm and his hand via the back of the marionette. The eyes are two external sheaths into which the operator inserts the little finger and the index finger of the hand placed in the head, his other three fingers animating the mouth. A rod is fastened to the marionette's hand and is held at the other end by the operator. This rod is provided with an operator-actuated lever enabling the marionette's hand to be opened or closed via mechanical transmission.
