The welding current is pulsed to give alternate arc periods. There are alternate arcing periods, during which some of the meltable electrode melts, and short circuited periods when molten materials is transferred to the workpiece. The power supply is controlled so that the current increases during the short circuited periods and reduces during the arcing period, when a known quantity of material has been melted, the current is reduced to a predetermined value. That value is maintained until the begining of the following short circuited period. |
