PURPOSE:To realize a highly stable and efficient light emitting element by a low resistance ZnS layer as a light emitting layer and two or more high resistance insulating layers laminated thereon. CONSTITUTION:Two types or more insulators are formed on a stabilized arbitrary surface after cleaved, cut or polished of a single crystal ZnS layer reduced in resistance. The film thickness or properties of a first layer insulating layer 6 are severely controlled to obtain characteristics as hole carrier implanting layer in good reproducibility. The shape of the element is optimized by suitably selecting the film thickness and the substance of a second layer insulating layer 7. An electrode 2' is formed on the layer 7. Thus, since the insulating layer is formed in a multilayer structure to simultaneously satisfy the characteristics of good reproducibility as the implanting layer and function for stably holding the boundary of the implanting layer, the efficiency and the stability of the light emitting element can be enhanced. |
