The invention relates to a process for the purification by sedimentation of waste waters (effluents) produced in lead crystal grinding. The process is characterised in that the waste waters are circulated and, following sedimentation known per se, are freed from residual suspended and dissolved contaminating substances by subsequent filtration and ion-exchange treatment.
