PURPOSE:To transfer control to the next processing without performing unnecessary processing by transmitting a transmission end text to switch a line to a telephone line when off-hook of the telephone is detected during data transmission. CONSTITUTION:If the receiver of a telephone 4 is hooked off during data transmission and off-hook is detected by a detecting circuit 7, a control circuit 11 receives this detection signal to set ETX of text end to a transmission buffer register 12, and ETX is transmitted to a center equipment 1 through a modulating circuit 16. When ACK (affirmative acknowledge) is received from the center equipment 1 thereafter, the controller transmits DLE (transmission control extension) and EOT (transmission end) to the center equipment 1, and a trunk line switching circuit 6 controls the line to switch it to the telephone side.
