PURPOSE:To enable one-sight confirmation of whether or not paper can be inserted by setting a head, a paper guide and a paper holding roller on an upper cover and the upper cover to be unlocked and displaced upward if a push button is pressed. CONSTITUTION:For instance, in a serial scanner printer, if a push button 62 provided at a rear right end of the upper surface of a main unit is pressed, lock pins 85a, 85b are removed from lock members 84a, 84b respectively. As a result, an upper cover 55 is rotated and displaced in an arrow direction by spring force with an axial fulcrum 64 as a supporting point. At the same time, a paper guide 59, a thermal head 56, a paper holding roller 60, etc. are displaced upward together with the rotation and displacement of the upper cover, opening a paper carrying channel. Paper P inserted through a paper inlet 35 smoothly passes through an image forming section 57, butting against a stopper 64. Thus the tip is positioned and if the upper cover 55 is pressed, said cover will be locked to an original condition by the lock pins 85a, 85b thus restoring a prearranged printing state automatically. |
