PURPOSE:To enable not only optical writing but also high speed recording by small-sized light wt. low output semiconductor layer, by irradiating an optical recording medium having a specific recording layer with beam corresponding to recording information. CONSTITUTION:A beam is allowed to irradiate an optical recording medium having a recording layer containing a polydiacetylene derivative and a chroconic methine dye corresponding to recording information. The recording information is converted to an optical signal by semiconductive laser through a control circuit and said optical signal is formed into an image at the predetermined position of the optical recording medium through an optical system. The image forming position is present in the recording layer 2 of the optical recording medium. The chroconic methine dye present at the image forming point 3 absorbs laser beam 4 to generate heat and the recording layer 2 of the image forming pint 3 is melted to be formed into a pit comprising a recessed part 5. By the presence of the polydiacetylene derivative, the formation of the above- mentioned pit due to the chroconic methine dye is promoted to a large extent. |
