PURPOSE:To reduce vibration due to the reaction force, etc., of a voice coil motor VCM, trouble due to an off track, and influence due to heat generated in a spindle motor and the VCM by forming a unit by center-supporting a spindle and a posionner (carriage) on a U-shaped base, and mounting the unit on a box type housing. CONSTITUTION:In the titled device, since spindles 23 are center-supported symmetrically on a U-shaped base 22, and a carriage 21 is fixed, deflects in the spindle 23, and the inclination in the carriage 21 can be reduced. Furthermore, the U-shaped base 22 is mounted in the inside of a box type base 24, and is shaped symmetrically, thereby being resistant to the vibrate, and the inclination in the carriage 21 can be reduced. Also, the spindle 23 and the carriage 21 are made into a unit, and are constituted separately from the box type base 24, and it is hard to be affected with the heat generated in the spindle motor M, and the VCM in the outside. In this way, an internal temperature in the device can be held almost at an even level, and a thermal off track can be reduced.
