摘要 The generating milling cutter has a cutting-edge geometry specially adapted to the working of composite materials. Two main cutting edges, which run towards one another in the form of a wedge in the direction of increasing length of cut, are arranged axially one above the other on the periphery of the milling cutter. In a preferred embodiment, the two main cutting edges are convexly curved, so that in side view the entire cutting face is parabolic. As soon as the two main cutting edges touch the upper and lower edge of the workpiece, as well as the forward-feed forces and the forces normal to forward feed high passive forces FP act on the outer layers of the material. The outer layers are separated off - as it were cut - and with the advance of the milling cutter cutting edge the inner regions of the workpiece are also sheared off. By virtue of the fact that first the outer layers and then the inner region is cut, the course of the cutting force is very uniform. A cut edge of high accuracy and surface quality results. Advantageously, the powdery or fibrous chips produced are directed via recesses under the cutting edges into the hollowed-out milling cutter interior and removed from there by suction.
