PURPOSE:To make it possible to continuously manufacture an ultraviolet-curing fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) wire under low tensile force by a method wherein the gelation of the resin squeezed with a forming die is eliminated despite of the use of a high-power ultraviolet lamp by squeezing out excess resin from the wire ahead of the forming die. CONSTITUTION:First, a roving A is impregnated with ultraviolet-curing resin by being immersed in a resin tank 1. Secondly, the resultant resin-impregnated roving is passed on a squeeze bar 2 and introduced in an auxiliary die 6 in order to squeeze out some portion of or all the excess resin from the roving by passing through the die 6. Thirdly, the roving is formed into the predetermined shape and sectional dimensions by passing said resin-impregnated roving passed through the auxiliary die 6 further through a forming die 5. When a high-power ultraviolet lamp 4 is employed at a curing section 3, the forming die 5 is heated because of the high-power of the lamp. However, no squeezing- out of excess resin occurs by the forming die 5 with substantially no heap due to the accumulation of resin developed and consequently the die clogging due to the gelation of resin can be eliminated in the forming die 5. |
