The vessel is provided at the bottom with the outlet which is closed by the valve under the action of the closing spring. The lid with the filling opening, it can be closed by the flap, is connected to the vessel by a quick-acting closure. A mechanical timer with the adjusting knob is installed in the housing. After expiry of the set drawing time, the timer mechanically actuates the valve stem, whereby the valve opens and the tea can flow into the vessel on which the tea-brewing appliance is placed. The apparatus only allows an outflow if a vessel e.g. a teapot, has been placed on it, the lever thereby freeing the valve. It is advantageous to arrange the apparatus in a multiple arrangement. Owing to the quick-acting closure, the vessel can be easily exchanged, so that a taste transfer when brewing different types of tea is avoided. The flap starts the timer upon closure. After the tea has flown out, the flap is put into the position and the new drawing time set, thereby closing the valve, as a result of which dripping is prevented when the appliance is removed.
