PURPOSE:To make treatment of the tail part of each strip effectively and prevent a cutting edge from damages by performing the cutting in such a way that the final scrap sheet will not fall into the space between conveyor and leveler and that is can be cast in a scrap box, and by stopping the operation automatically after completion of cutting. CONSTITUTION:The length of final scrap sheet is set, for example, to 2,500-2,800mm, wherein the minimum dimension 2,500mm derives from the distance 1,530mm between the front of a leveler 5 and the rear of a conveyor 7 with addition of further betamm, which is necessary for the scrap sheet to get on the conveyor 7 and which is assumed here to be 970mm. The maximum 2,800mm derives from a value a little smaller than the length of a scrap box 10 which dimensions 3,000mm. Thus calculations are made on the basis of the residual lengths L so that the number of cut sheets as products maximizes, and completion of the final scrap sheet stops operation of the shears 6 automatically. This should give a high effectiveness in treatment of the tail part of each strip as well as prevent the cutting edge from damages.
