PURPOSE:To always produce good slave tapes by storing a mother tape in such cartridge that most of magnetic faces are not brought into contact with one another. CONSTITUTION:A bias magnetic field is generated by the magnetic heads 9 and 10 of a pair of rolls 7 and 8, and the recorded contents of a mother tape 2 are transferred magnetically to a slave tape 1. Since the mother tape 2 is endless, they are transferred magnetically continuously to the slave tape 1 which is several - several hundreds times as long as the mother tape 2. Since the master tape is stored in a cartridge 15, the quantity of magnetism is not reduced by mutual contacting among magnetic faces, and the recorded contents are always well transferred magnetically.
