The invention relates to a device for increasing the size of a luggage compartment in a motor vehicle of the saloon type with a luggage compartment (8) situated behind a movable backrest (6) of rear seats. According to the invention, the luggage compartment is increased in size in that the backrest (6) is displaced in its approximately vertical position from a rear in-use position as a backrest over the seat cushion (5) into a front position. From the luggage compartment (8) a through-loading opening (10) is provided as a connection with the space released by the backrest (6) so that the luggage compartment (8) is correspondingly increased in size. In a further development of the subject-matter of the application, a bellows (12) is provided which in its extended state surrounds the region of the luggage compartment which has been increased in size to act as a guard against dirt, moisture and cold. In the subject-matter of the application, the backrest, which can be moved forwards, retains its effect as an impact-protection means for objects from the luggage compartment in the event of accidents and rapid braking procedures even when the luggage compartment has been increased in size. <IMAGE> |
