PURPOSE:To improve storage stability and to prevent fading in a bleaching step by incorporating a ureido type coupler and a cyclic ether compound in at least one of silver halide emulsion layers. CONSTITUTION:At least one of the silver halide emulsion layers contains the ureido type phenolic coupler having the ureido group at the 2-position represented by the formula shown on the right in which R1 is alkyl, aryl, or a heterocyclic group; Ar is aryl; and X is H or a group to be released by the coupling reaction with the oxidation product of a color developing agent. This layer also contains the cyclic ether compound, preferably, the ones having a 3- or 6-membered ring, and one or two oxygen atoms in one ring, thus permitting fading of a dye to be eliminated in a bleaching step or a bleach-fixing step. |
