Locking device for a sliding leaf of a window, door or the like, having at least one control rod (6) provided with at least one locking bolt (5) adjustable transversely in a horizontal slot (12) in the control rod (6) and incorporating an adjustment device (13) interposed between the control rod (6) and the locking bolt (5), characterized by the fact that the adjustment device (13) includes an adjusting screw (14) positioned in the locking bolt (5) and integrally linked in lateral movement with the latter, the said adjusting screw (14) cooperating with a threaded hole (16) in the horizontal slot (12).
