PURPOSE:To easily and surely detect a gap between rolls by introducing the light from a light source arranged at hole part of the axial center of roll to outside and detecting a moire fringe of the light formed through a fixed lattice hole grid by means of photoelectric element to detect directly distance between both roll centers. CONSTITUTION:The light beams from the light sources 4 arranged at inner hole parts 3 in the upper and lower working rolls 1, 2 are introduced to outside from the hole parts 3 through annular lattice grids 6. further, a part of the light beams is passed through a slit 10 fixed at a chock cover 9 and further through the fixed lattice grid 12 fixed at a measuring instrument 15. Then, the moire fringe is generated by different between grids 6 and 12, and by detecting it by means of the photoelectric element 14, the distance D between both roll centers and further the gap S between both rolls are directly measured. |
