PURPOSE:To facilitate the setting and alteration of discrimination logic for color discrimination and to enlarge the adaptation range of color discrimination, by forming binary codes on the basis of color component signals using a color component signal processing means and setting a table consisting of a plurality of reference codes in a memory according to said binary codes. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of color component signals X, Y, Z from an object having a color to be discriminated are detected by the light receiving elements 11-13 of the power source integrated type optical sensor 10 of a color discrimination apparatus, and combined and binarized by a multiplexer MPU16 to be inputted to CPU20. These binarized signals X, Y, Z are once stored in a memory 21 and operationally processed according to a predetermined program to form a plurality of binary codes and a reference table is set to the memory. The program of CPU20 is set and altered by the operation of a keyboard 23 and the setting and alteration of discrimination logic for color discrimination are made easy and the adaptation range of the color discrimination apparatus is enlarged.
