A process for preparing a latex polymer from a monomer component which comprises or consists of one or more gaseous monomers is disclosed. The process is characterised by pre-­emulsifying the monomer component with surface active agent in aqueous phase prior to its polymerization and adding the pre-­emulsified monomer component incrementally to a reactor for polymerization.
