A mixer especially for powders has a rotary drum into which projects an open topped channel in which is at least one screw for feeding and discharging. In the batch mixer shown the drum 1 has a coaxial, reversible feed and discharge screw 3. Material is lifted by the vanes 11 and dropped on the deflector 7 which guides it to the channel 6 in which the screw operates. An embodiment for batch or continuous mixing (Fig. 3, not shown) has two screws 12, 13. For continuous operation one acts as a feed and the other as a discharge screw. For batch operation either or both may act successively as a feed and as a discharge screw. |
