PURPOSE:To improve the detecting accuracy of toner concentration due to dirt in a device by exposing the electrostatic latent image of a toner concentration detecting image directly to a non-image forming area. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive drum 2 is rotated in the arrow direction and a non-image area A and an image area B are positively charged by an electrostatic charging corotron 12. A destaticized part C is formed on a part of the non-image area A by an LED array 10 and a short focus lens array 11. Then, the destaticized part C is developed, the concentration of the developing toner is measured by a photosensor or the like and the quantity of toner in a developer is controlled in accordance with the measured concentration. Thus, the detecting accuracy of the toner concentration due to dirt in the device can be improved. |
