PURPOSE:To attain the signal transfer between tapes or special reproduction by one VTR by providing a function switching an external video signal and a reproducing signal by a recording/reproducing device and a reproducing signal by a reproducing function. CONSTITUTION:A signal reproduced from a video tape 20 via a recording/ reproducing section 3, a signal reproduced from a video tape 19 via a reproducing function section 14 and an external video signal 2 are switched sequentially by a switch 18 and then amplified 1. Then the signal is converted into a digital signal by an A/D converter 9 by the operation of a switch 7 and stored in a memory device 10 sequentially by the operation of a memory control section 21. Then the signal is extracted and synthesized from the device 10 by the operation of the control section 21 as required, a stop video signal, a slow video signal or a synthesized video signal is outputted externally by the operation of a switch 13 via a D/A converter 11 and a special signal processing section 12.
