PURPOSE:To realize an outline intensification processed picture with a simple constitution by deciding that an outline is present when the sum of picture density at a pair of neighboring picture elements is changed larger than a prescribed degree, and intensifying the density of the picture element in the neighborhood of the outline. CONSTITUTION:After setting plural picture elements in the neighborhood of a CCD line sensor 1 as a pair, the sum of the picture signals of the picture element consisting of each pair is found at a signal processing part 2. Next, the absolute value of a difference between the above sum of adjacent two pairs is found. An edge decision part 3 compares the absolute value with a prescribed value N, and when it is larger than the N, an edge signal is outputted. The edge signal represents that the outline is detected. Meanwhile, a level decision part 4 outputs a level signal when the picture signal of each picture element is larger than a prescribed value M. At an outline intensifying part 5, a prescribed value P is added/subtracted corresponding to whether the level signal for the picture element from which the outline is detected is outputted or not. And the picture signal in which the outline is intensified is sent to a binarization processing part 6. Thus, a binary-coded picture in which the outline is intensified can be obtained. |
