PURPOSE:To arrange a developing part and a feeding part in parallel with each other to reduce the whole height of a developing device and to reduce the size and thickness of the device by arranging a developer feeding part for feeding the developer to the developing part from the horizontal direction on the back of the developing part. CONSTITUTION:The developing device body 2 is constituted of the developing part 3a whose electrostatic image carrier 1 side is opened and a lateral housing 3 consisting of an almost cylindrical developer feeding part 3b connected unitedly with the back of the developing part 3a. When a developer cartridge 7 is inserted from the driving gear 9 side into the feeding part 3b, the driving gear 9 is engaged with a driving system gear a part of which is arranged in the feeding part 3b, a developer feeding member 8 is rotated in the arrow direction and the developer in the developer cartridge 7 is fed from a discharge port 7a to the developing part 3a through an aperture part 3d.
