PURPOSE:To reduce the running cost of a printer, by so arranging an ink ribbon that it can be fed in one direction adjacently to a loop form current supply heat generating ribbon. CONSTITUTION:An ink ribbon 1 and a current supply generating ribbon 2 are contained in a ribbon cassette 3. Both ends of the ink ribbon 1 are wound respectively around a payout-side spool 1A and a take-up side spool 1B, whereas the ribbon 2 is supported in the cassette 3 in a loop form by guide rollers 4a, 4b, 4c, a tension roller 5 and a feeding roller 7 so that it can be circulatively fed adjacently to the ink ribbon 1. With this arrangement, it is unnecessary to provide an expensive heat generating ribbon part over the entire length of the ink ribbon. An energizing head 13 operates to press simultaneously the ribbon 2 and the ink ribbon 1 against a paper 14 set on a platen 15, and energizes the ribbon 2 to generate heat, by which an ink of the ink ribbon 1 is melted, and is transferred to the paper 14. |
