PURPOSE:To form a gap of a track width having high accuracy by cutting a magnetic metallic material to a prescribed size in the stage of preliminarily forming the magnetic metallic material to the width larger than the prescribed track width and forming control grooves for the track width. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 7 is made into the complex construction in which thin magnetic metallic sheets 9a, 9b consisting of 'Sendust(R)', etc., having high saturation flux are sandwiched by ferrite plates 8a-8d consisting of Mn.Zn ferrite having high magnetic permeability and are adhered by glass adhesive agents 10a, 10b. The thin magnetic metallic sheets 9a, 9b are formed to the size larger than the prescribed track width and are formed to the prescribed track width in the stage of working the control grooves 13a, 13b. The control groove 13 of the prescribed size is formed to a block half body 2a (2b) and the block half bodies are joined to produce the magnetic head. The gap of the track width having the high accuracy is thus formed without remaining of the oxide magnetic material after the working of the grooves.
