In motor vehicles, the control knobs on the dashboard are provided with a lighting arrangement in which a plurality of symbols are illuminated simultaneously by a common light source. In order that a multiplicity of symbols in a plurality of control switches can be illuminated uniformly, it being possible to identify the symbols of all the functions and the switching function respectively allocated to them unambiguously, it is proposed that the front panel (1) in which the control knobs (3, 4) are arranged consist of a plastic which conducts light well and that the front panel (1) have a bright, light-permeable varnish and a dark, light-impermeable varnish on top of it on the front side (2). The symbols provided to be illuminated and the area covered by the control knobs (3, 4) are exposed in the dark varnish. Each control knob (3, 4) has a symbol which indicates the respective switch position and is illuminated by the same light source (incandescent lamp 17). <IMAGE> |
