PURPOSE:To enable a tone to be differently developed even with a thermal pen of the same temperature, by a method wherein; a first thermal recording image is formed on a thermal recording layer containing a diazonium salt and a specific compound, the recording layer is treated by irradiation of an active ray, and a second thermal recording image is formed on the undeveloped portion of the thermal recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A diphenylalkene derivative shown by a formula (I) is a coupler compound which reacts with a diazonium salt to have a tone of high density and also reacts with a decomposition product produced after the photo-decomposition of the diazonium salt to have an another tone. A coating liquid wherein fine particles of the diazonium salt, the coupler compound, a color producing assistant, and a recording sensitivity improver etc. are dispersed is applied to a substrate to produce a thermal recording material. With use of the thermal recording material, a first recording image is formed by using a thermal pen or a thermal head etc., and thereafter an active ray is irradiated all over the surface of a recording layer to decompose the unreacted diazonium salt in the non-recorded portion, and further a second recording image is formed on the non-recorded portion by using the thermal pen or the thermal head. In this manner, the second recording image has a tone different from that of the first recording image, thus realizing a clear two-color recording image. |
