PURPOSE:A polymeric elastomer which is mainly composed of polyurethane containing a coagulation-regulating agent is laminated to a fibrous sheet and the product is treated with high-speed fluid jet to produce a composite sheet of high drapeability, abrasion resistance and humid permeability. CONSTITUTION:Fibers which can form ultra-fine fibers, e.g., a web of sea-island type conjugated fibers are needle-punched to prepare a nonwoven fabric sheet. Then, the sheet is coated with a polymeric elastomer which is mainly composed of polyurethane containing a coagulation regulator (pore-size regulator) such as an alcohol or hydrocarbon, the polyurethane is coagulated by the wet method to give a sheet with uniform pore structure by the action of the regulator. Then, the sheet is treated with water jet as the high-speed fluid jet on both front and back surfaces. Then, a part or the whole of the polymeric elastomer is finely divided to produce the objective composite sheet of high flexibility, drapeability, abrasion resistance and other good mechanical properties. |
