PURPOSE:To restrain the bend of a rotor resulting from unequal heating by gland seal steam by providing a shielding plate for covering a part of the lower section in the whole periphery of the rotor, at an opening for gland seal steam in a gland part casing. CONSTITUTION:High temperature steam is introduced, through a gland steam adjusting valve 3 and a gland steam header 5, into left and right gland parts 2. On the other hand, system not sucked from the gland part 2 into inside of a turbine and outside air are introduced, through a gland steam exhaust line 6, into a gland steam condenser 4. In the above-mentioned constitution a shielding plate 10 for converting a part of the lower section of a rotor 1 is installed at the opening of the gland steam header 5 connected to the gland part 2. Hereby gland seal steam 7 flowing into the gland part 2 is made to uniformly round into both sides of the rotor 1 along the shielding plate 10 without directly hitting on the lower section of the rotor 1. And asymmetric temperature distribution on the rotor 1 due to the gland seal steam 7 is prevented.
