PRODUCTION OF MOLTEN CHROMIUM IRON

摘要

PURPOSE:To inexpensively produce molten Cr iron with and at excellent operability and Cr yield by using the slag formed in the refining stage of a stainless steel as a slag forming agent in the stage of producing the molten Cr iron with a vertical furnace having two stages of upper and lower tuyeres in an upper raw material charging port and furnace bottom. CONSTITUTION:Lumped raw materials such as high-carbon ferrochromium 10, coke 10 for metallurgy and slag forming agent 12 are charged into the vertical furnace from the upper raw material charging port 1 thereof. The slag forming agent 16 essentially consisting of powdery Cr ore 15 and powder of Cr-contg. slag generated in the refining state of the stainless steel is blown together with hot air enriched with oxygen into the furnace from the upper tuyeres 2 of two stages of the lower tuyeres. The Cr-contg. slag may be charged together with the Cr ore from the upper raw material charging port 1 in this case. The Cr-component contained in the slag forming agent is reduced into the molten iron and is recovered and therefore, the molten Cr iron which is the raw material for the stainless steel is stably and inexpensively produced at the high yield of Cr.
