PURPOSE:To make the brightness of a liquid crystal display constant by arranging a movable slit at the light input part of the diffusion plate to use a diffusion plate as a surface light source which has uniform brightness. CONSTITUTION:The rays of light of a fluorescent lamp 4 are made incident on the diffusion plate 2, which is used as the surface light source to transmit the light from the reverse surface of a transmission type liquid crystal display part 1. A movable slit 3 having a hole 5 which is narrow at the center part and wide at both ends is arranged between the light source 4 and diffusion plate 2, so the diffusion plate is used as the surface light source having uniform brightness. Thus, the brightness of the liquid crystal display is made constant and also adjustable. |
