The invention relates to a drive device for the deck of a record turntable. The device according to the invention is notable in that it includes at least two motors M1, M2 and at least one transmission belt 2, each motor being provided with at least one driving pulley P1, P2 whilst the motors and the pulleys are such that the tangential velocities for the drive regions of the latter are identical, or substantially identical, the or each belt 2 being engaged through friction with the deck 1a, or a drive disc 1b which is concentric and integral with the said deck, and with at least one pulley P1, P2 of at least one motor M1, M2. <IMAGE>
