PURPOSE:To prevent any separation of the active material so as to increase the life of a pocket-type alkaline storage battery by adding a given aqueous solution to a powder prepared by mixing nickel oxide and graphite, kneading the thus prepared mixture prior to crushing and drying the kneaded mixture and specifying the average particle size of the dried active material. CONSTITUTION:Nickel oxide is mixed with graphite used as the conductive material in a V-shaped mixing stirer. Then, a 3% aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol is added to the thus preapred powdery mixture and the mixture is kneaded in a screw-type kneader. Next, the kneaded active material is crushed with a metallic screen to prepare a powder with particle size of 100-500mum. By the means mentioned above, any separation of the active material is prevented, thereby increasing in life of a pocket-type alkaline storage battery. |
