PURPOSE:To reduce the opening and closing frequency of an opening and closing valve, to attain the miniaturization of the opening and closing valve and to reduce the diameter of a drain pipe, by providing drain ports to the bottom part and side part of an air separation tank at a lower limit water level. CONSTITUTION:When the water level of water separated from a fluid mixture of water and air and stored in a box body 1 is in a state of a lower limit L, an electromotive opening and closing valve 17 is closed by a control means 9. When the water level rises in this state, water is drained only from a second drain pipe 19. When the water level rises to reach an upper limit H, the opening and closing valve 17 is closed and water is also drained from a first drain pipe 16. Because the increase in water quantity bringing about the rise in the water level is temporary, frequency of reaching the upper limit H is low and the opening and closing valve 17 is miniaturized and the drain pipe 16 can be made fine.
