PURPOSE:To correct shading in the circumferential direction by adding a value that increases at its position moves further away from the centers of screens produced by a horizontal picture element position and a vertical position counter to a picture element information value. CONSTITUTION:The up-down counting actions of holizontal picture element position counter are switched by a horizontal center detecting part 6 at the horizontal center. then the count value of the counter 5 increases as the counter 5 moves further away from said center position. While the up-down counting actions of a vertical position counter 7 are switched by a vertical position center detecting part 8 at the vertical center. The count value of the counter 7 increases as the counter 7 moves further away from said center. the count values of both counters 4 and 7 are added to the picture element value obtained by digitizing the output of a TV camera 1 by an A/D converting part 2 by adders 10a and 10b. Thus it is possible to correct the shading caused by the characteristics of the image pickup tube of the camera 1.
