PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance without forming polymerized by product, by adding hydroxylamine or nitroxide compound to a mixture of cyclopentadiene, etc., and butadiene, continuously introducing the mixture into an autoclave and reacting the components in the absence of vapor phase in the reactor. CONSTITUTION:The titled substance is produced by the Diels-Alder reaction of butadiene with cyclopentadiene or a mixture of cyclopentadiene and dicyclopentadiene. The reaction is carried out by adding N,N- diethylhydroxylamine or 4-oxo-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl to the reaction mixture at an amount of 10-10,000ppm (preferably 100-5,000ppm) based on the whole reaction mixture, continuously introducing the mixture into an autoclave, reacting the components in the absence of vapor phase in the reactor and continuously taking the reaction product out of the reactor. EFFECT:The clogging of the apparatus caused by the precipitation and deposition of polymer can be prevented.
