An article (10) comprising a panel-shaped, strip-shaped or rod-shaped foam material (12) which is firmly bonded to a plastic body (14) and a process for producing an article of this kind (10) are described, the plastic body (14) being produced as a profile in an extrusion process and the foam material (12) being surface bonded to the plastic body (14). The surface bond of the foam material (12) to the plastic body (14) is obtained in that the plastic material of the plastic body (14) penetrates into a thin surface layer of the foam material (12) directly subsequent to the extrusion of the plastic body (14), so that after the curing of the plastic body (14) a firm bond of the plastic body (14) to the foam material (12) is produced.
