PURPOSE:To produce facsimile picture information from signals and transmit or record the facsimile picture information, by installing a centronics connector which is freely connectable with a, for example, 8-bit parallel centronics interface to facsimile equipment main body. CONSTITUTION:Data from a centronics connector 10 are temporarily stored in a buffer memory 14. An MPU11 fetches data information from the buffer memory 14 while writing data information received through the centronics connector 10 in the buffer memory 14 and, when the data information is a control code, carries out control operations in accordance with the procedure of the code. When the data information is character codes, the MPU11 develops characters on a picture information memory 13 by using a character generator 12 and produces picture information. When a desired quantity of picture information is produced and accumulated on the picture information memory 13, the MPU11 makes the picture information to flow through a circuit 5 so as to make facsimile communication by controlling a picture information compressing/ restoring and modulating/demodulating section 18.
