Vehicle roof with a transparent or translucent cover for optionally closing or at least partly uncovering a roof opening, and with a cover lining which lies under the cover and is connected detachably to the cover. Arranged under the cover, in the region of cover edges lying opposite one another, are slideways. The cover lining is provided with sliders which are in engagement with the slideways. When the cover has been tilted up or removed, the cover lining can be slid onto the slideways by its sliders (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
