A flexible sliding seal serves for sealing the joint which is present between two structural parts. The sliding portion of the sliding seal is covered by a sliding lug which - seen in cross-sectional profile - is fixedly connected to the sliding seal at one end. The other end of the sliding lug is secure for transportation, but is fastened releasably on the sliding seal. During mounting, the sliding lug is carried along by the structural part moving over the sliding seal. Owing to a sliding agent, which is already introduced at the factory into the free space between sliding portion and sliding lug, or owing to a sliding lug which consists of material which is particularly capable of sliding, any additional application of sliding agent on the building site can be dispensed with. Moreover, the sliding agent applied onto the sliding seal at the factory is protected with respect to soiling and drying out by the sliding lug until the structural part is mounted. A permanently secure sealing function of the sliding seal is consequently ensured in a reliable manner.
