PURPOSE:To aim at simplification in a device and improvement in the accuracy of finishing, by locating a quill rotational shaft center in a corresponding position to each hole part center line of a work, and having it correlated to a clamp bar clamping the work. CONSTITUTION:In case of boring operation making a cylinder head W a work, it is set to a cradle 7, making a clamper 10 go down, and bearing parts W1 and W4 at symmetrical outsides of the cylinder head W are clamped from the upside. Next, a spindle 1 fitted with a boring quill T1 is moved to a machining position, this quill T1 is rotated, and also reciprocated, then bearing holes h1 and h2 are bored. Next, in order to machine bearings h3 and h4, the work is rotated as far as 180 deg., and they are machined with the quill T1 likewise. Accordingly, simplification in a device can be done and, what is more, there is no shaft center deflection in the quill so that the work is machinable in an accurate manner.
