PURPOSE:To enhance the stabilization of motion for separating sheets, by provid ing a resilient section on a separating member so that the resilient member is made to abut against an abutting section to locate the separating member. CONSTITUTION:Cut sheets 6 are made into press-contact with a paper feed roller 2 by a loading plate 4 urged by a spring 5, and therefore the upper sur face thereof is always held at a predetermined position. The angle of the loading plate 4 varies in accordance with the amount of the sheets 6, but a separating member 8 which is engaged with the leading end of the upper surface of the sheet 6 is held at one and the same position irrespective of the amount of the sheets 6. Since a resilient part 17 formed on the separating member 8 is ar ranged so that it is made into press-contact with the bushing section 13 of the paper feed roller 2, a separating pawl 9 may be located without being lifted from the sheets 6, and therefore, the bending of the resilient part 17 may be made to be constant so that the press-contact force between the separating pawl 9 and the leading end of the sheet 6 may be stabilized, thereby it is pos sible to stabilize the separating motion for the sheets.
