A rotation device consisting of magnets (7) which are rotatable about an axis (5) within a non-magnetic housing (3). A soft-iron ring (8) provided with outwardly directed projections can be drawn over the magnets (7) in order to focus the flux lines. Preferably rotationally symmetrical objects (91, 92) made of magnetisable material, which are brought onto the outside of the housing (3), are retained and, during the rotation of the magnets (7), are taken up; at the same time, they roll on the surface of the housing (3) and successively turn their entire surface outwards. Objects (93) made of non-magnetisable material are inserted into magnetisable tubes (94). The preferred intended use of the invention is as a specimen carrier in plasma-coating chambers, to make it possible also to coat a plurality of small articles simultaneously. <IMAGE>
