The invention relates to an apparatus for interchanging roll stands in a multi-stand rolling group, in particular a stretch-reducing mill train for tubes, having at least one liftable and lowerable supporting cross-beam, which can travel above the rolling group transversely to the roll axis and extends parallel to the latter, of a supporting bridge on which is arranged, for each stand location, at least one supporting unit for grasping, holding and setting down a roll stand. According to the invention, to shorten the downtime of the mill train two supporting units which can be lifted and lowered independently of one another are arranged on the supporting bridge for each stand location, a short distance behind one another transversely to the roll axis.
