PURPOSE:A coating compound composition forming a film of coating which has improved resistance to sulfide black denaturation of inner face of can of food, containing zinc oxide having the surface coated with a hydrophilic film of coating. CONSTITUTION:The surface of zinc oxide (fine particles having preferably <=10mum particle diameter) is coated with a film of coating of a hydrophilic substance such as hydroxyethyl cellulose, etc., and blended with a resin component (preferably epoxy phenolic resin) to give a coating composition. The amount of zinc oxide is preferably 2-20pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. resin component and a blending ratio of the hydrophilic substance and zinc oxide is preferably 1/10-1/200.
