PURPOSE:To house sheets continuously, by providing 1st and 2nd trays for housing sheets from an image forming device and housing sheets in another tray provided separately when both the trays are filled up or a jam happens. CONSTITUTION:Sheets transported by a roller 95 are transported to a transportation passage 101 by turning a switch gate 105 around a shaft 123 in a direction shown by an arrow A. The sheets are housed in 1st and 2nd trays disposed downstream of the transportation passage 101. A plurality of sensors are disposed at important points in the way to the 1st and 2nd trays in addition to a sensor S1 disposed in the transportation passage 101. When these sensors sense that the trays are filled up or when it is determined that a jam happens because the sensors do not operate for a prescribed period of time, a solenoid 123 pulls a lever 121 to lower a switch gate 105 so that sheets are housed in a 3rd tray 103. With such an arrangement, sheets can be received while the filled up 1st and 2nd trays are replaced or while the jam is processed. The gate is returned to its original position when the processing has finished.
