PURPOSE:A porous film having air permeability, improved appearance and touch, obtained by forming an uneven pattern on the surface of a film consisting of a mixture comprising a polyolefin resin and an inorganic filler as essential components and then drawing. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100pts.wt. polyolefin resin is blended with (B) 50-500pts.wt., preferably 100-400pts.wt. inorganic filler having <=30mu average particle diameter, such as preferably calcium carbonate, barium sulfate, etc., subjected to surface treatment. The blend is made into a film. An uneven pattern having >=2mum depth is formed on the surface of the prepared film by embossing process, etc., the film is drawn in at least one direction at 1.05-7 times, preferably 1.1-4 times to give a polyolefin porous film having >=100g/m<2>, 24Hrs, preferably 500g/m<2>, 24Hrs water vapor transmission rate. USE:Waterproofing clothes, eaterproofing cover, sanitary materials and packaging materials.
