The invention relates to an apparatus and a process for automatically recording and reproducing movement sequences of a processing or handling device. In this case, the movements are initially carried out manually and the electric pulses thereby generated, corresponding to the movements, are recorded. The recorded pulses are used for automatic reproduction of the movement sequences, it being provided that the recorded pulse sequences are divided into pulse clocks. During the recording, the number of pulses each pulse clock contains is stored. This pulse number is used as a criterion for the computer-controlled reproduction. In addition, during the reproduction, the pulses of each pulse clock are distributed uniformly over the respective pulse clock, irrespective of their distribution over time during the recording. <IMAGE>
